Hinterview Connection Error Messages and How to Try and Resolve!

Candidate say they have a error message when trying to connect to a Hinterview? Here is how to fix it!

Whenever a candidate can't connect to a Hinterview, there will always be some sort of Error message on the screen. Ask your candidate for the full error message. Below are the error messages they will receive, what they mean and how you can try and resolve them!

Camera and Microphone - Application

This is a common error where a candidate's camera and microphone is either in use or being blocked by a piece of software or their browser.

You may also see the below error, where your connection check is stuck at 95%

Solutions:

  • Make sure no apps are running in the background

  • Check browser extensions are not blocking access

  • Click the camera icon at the top-left , next to the address bar, to check your permissions

  • Clear cookies and cache: Chrome, Edge, Safari, Opera, Firefox

  • Give the candidate a pre-call test - Pre-call Test or test yourself if you are having any issues.

Network Connection

This is another common error where the candidate when trying to enter the Hinterview will have lost their internet connection.

Steps to take:

  • Ensure connected to an internet source

  • Try a different internet source

Unexpected Error

If this message pops up our servers are unable to identify an exact issue that has occurred.

Steps to take:

  • Delete cache and cookies

  • Try conduct the Hinterview in an incognito or private tab

  • See if your device has strict security settings. You may also communicate with your IT or Operations department to look into this one.
