This quick tutorial will show you how to use Hinterview's one way reach out tool: Hintro.

1 - There are 2 ways to get to the Hintro feature. Clicking on the side tab will open the library, whilst clicking the home page button will take the user directly to the recording menu.

2 - Clicking Hintro from the side bar takes us to the library, which can be seen below. This is where Hintros are stored once uploaded. To record a Hintro, simply click "New Hintro".

3 - The following window shows the view you'll be recording. You can change your video source and audio source and test the microphone is working(the bars should show an animation).

You can also choose to mirror camera (only for record camera), add a background blur, or a virtual background.

Please note: if you have issues with your equipment or connectivity and browser permissions you will not be able to see this. To learn more about these issues click here.

Please note: virtual backgrounds and background blur are not available on Safari

4 - There are 4 options to record a Hintro:

  • The "Record Camera" option is your simple video tool which allows your camera to capture yourself;

  • There are 2 recording screen option, one without the camera and one with the camera;

  • You can also "Upload Video" to use a video file instead of recording via the platform; as well

Please Note: iphones operate in a different manner. Jump to this article to see how to record on a mobile.

5 - The Cue card is available to add notes or a script about what you want to say.

The bottom left corner of the Cue Card box can be grabbed to expand the size of the box.

The text box is also scrollable once you're recording.

Please note: The cue card will be visible on share screen.

6 - Once you have made your selection(s), select 'Start Recording' at the bottom of the screen to begin.

7 - Whilst recording the user will have access to the recording time and the Stop recording button, which can be pressed anytime to stop the recording.

Please note: Issues withhardware performance may affect the quality of your Hintros. For example, issues with audio and video lag. It is advisable for the user to have all unnecessary background applications turned off.

8 - After pressing "Stop Recording" the user can now preview the Hintro by clicking the play button, "Save & Upload" to the platform (which requires a name) or "Delete and rerecord".

9 - After pressing Save and Upload, the following screen will show, and the Hintro will start processing on the Background.

While it's processing (but after it's finished uploading) you can:

  • Add a document

  • Change the thumbnail between static and GIF

  • Exit to elsewhere in the platform

  • Record another Hintro

  • Or go to the video full edit page to trim, add subtitles etc

Please note: it is important to let the video process and upload before doing anything else as this may interfere with your file's integrity.

10 - Once processed the user will be able to share the Hintro. Either by clicking 'Copy Link' of using the chevron next to it to open all sharing options.

11 - Inside the Hintro edit page, it is possible to find a more comprehensive menu with more sharing options. It is also possible to download the file using the top right orange button, as well as change name and deactivate the Hintro.
